Overview

With the help of the Huawei Body Tracking Technology, the software recognizes the dance movements via the camera precisely based on the body movements and awards points for the dance performance. This creates a playful competition and the desire to see or dance as many sights as possible.

Challenge

The world is becoming new and, above all, more digital every day. That’s why the city of Düsseldorf needed an application that is new, sophisticated and helps visitors overall. Visiting the city’s attractions can be more fun and social. Visitors might forget the attraction after some time. Physical activity while seeing the city’s attractions can be increased.

Results

Via the map tool, visitors to Düsseldorf (as well as Düsseldorfers themselves) can navigate to sites using the integrated navigation tool and start a special gamification experience on site. In summary: a combination of the search (t) effect of “Pokemon go” with the fun of “Let’s Dance” and a good pinch of glamor from Düsseldorf on top. When the visitor reaches the sight, he can activate a dance tutorial tailored specifically to the location in the app, which gives him dance figures in a precise sequence. The user dances these dance moves and can be filmed by the mobile phone camera at the same time, preferably together with other visitors or locals. The software’s innovative AR and body tracking technology uses the camera to precisely identify the dance moves based on the body movements and assigns points for dance performance, comparable to the evaluation of figures in figure skating. This creates a playful competition and the desire to see or dance as many sights as possible. This intensifies the visitor experience and leads to a communicative exchange with locals and other visitors without any communication barriers, especially across language and age limits. A common visitor experience, an intercultural exchange. At the same time, the attractiveness of the tourist destination is spread through social media and its reach is maximized, a playful contest between tourists, also across city and country borders. This creates a “digital ambassador” for the city that goes viral into the world. E.g. the Düsseldorf Radschläger as a signature move for Düsseldorf. Our app is available for Düsseldorf and is waiting to conquer NRW and other cities!
